“fruits and vegetables to grow in fall”

Before you write this one off due to its fat content, consider this: One Penn State University study found that snacking on apples pre-meal can reduce overall calorie consumption by 15%. We’re willing to bet its waist-whittling effects apply when they are eaten with the meal as well. Apples boast belly-slimming fiber, the powerful antioxidant quercetin, and vitamins C and B-6, which keep your cholesterol levels low and slash your risk for heart disease.
On the quest to create wholesome, flavorful meals, there’s often one serious hurdle: time. But whether you want a meal you can leave alone to slowly cook during the day or while you run errands, slow cookers have you covered. Plus, they save energy and lower the risk of burning food. This is one recipe that even the not-so-culinary-blessed can partake.
Many centuries would pass from the baking of a cake on a hot stone to baking in a hot electric/gas oven. One step along the way to the modern oven was the placement of an oven (box) inside the fireplace that sometimes had a door. Obviously it was quite an art to control the temperature and items were placed in the oven according to their baking times. Even the early replicas of modern ovens we have today did not have temperature controls. Some women as late as the early 1900s were still measuring an oven’s temperature by sticking a piece of paper into the oven and waiting to see how long it took to brown. Or worse yet, they stuck their hand in the hot oven judging the temperature by how long they could leave their hand in the oven.
Tried the cake but changed the recipe a little. Instead of all that butter I used half butter and half applesauce in the batter and the topping was all applesauce instead of butter. The topping was a bit runny. It took about 20 minutes longer and the temperature had to be raised toward the end. It was so-so warm but cooled it was “wonderful”.
“I’m only giving this two stars because the pork chops were tender. I followed the recipe exactly but these turned out flavorless. I added salt, pepper and onion powder when I made the juices into a gravy and it still wasn’t all that flavorful.”
This recipe is in fact a favorite in our house! It always turns out delicious. I generally halve the recipe and cook in a 8×8 dish. I have never precooked the spinach – I just cut it into slices with kitchen shears. This works perfectly and saves time.

Baked Pork Chops are incredible simple to make. You will have better results if you purchase pork chops that have been cut about 1-inch thick. This will help prevent your meat from drying out. There’s nothing worse than a dry pork chop! Any thinner than 1 inch and you will most likely end up with dry, flavorless meat.

Pour in the Passata, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, crushed bouillon and dried herbs. Mix well to combine and bring to a gentle simmer. Season with desired amount of salt and pepper (I use about 3/4 teaspoon each) and sugar if needed. Cover and cook for about 20-30 minutes, occasionally mixing, until the sauce has thickened slightly and meat is tender.

This recipe calls for pepper but the directions don’t say where to add it… I’m assuming it’s to season the chops, but they are already being seasoned with the breading mix. (I put a pinch into the mix.) I seriously don’t want to sound snarky or stupid! I live rurally with satellite internet and cannot watch the video portion of the recipe right now. I’m sure this is going to be delish! I’ve used your recipes before and I’m a fan!
Please report back, Melissa! I feel like bundt pans are pretty much all once sized (I once tried to find a “bigger” one and could all find ones that were all the same no matter where I looked. But I’m glad you put a baking tray underneath just in case. Good insurance! I hope it works for you. I feel like you’ll have no problems. Crossing fingers!
