How did it turn out, mine was amazing! I could never get over the not flipping the chicken, that was my problem, For some reason I think I have to flip everything in the oven but I’m not really a cook LOL.
The easiest way to keep this Guac handy is to make sure your kitchen always has ripe avocados.  To avoid running out to the market every time you crave Guac, start buying avocados in bunches.  Once they’ve ripened on the countertop put them in the refrigerator.    This halts the ripening process and you’ll get another 4-6 days out of them, sometimes even longer.
Good Q! This just has a little kick from the 1 tsp of sriracha. think the fermented chili flavor does complement the other ones. WIth the caveat that I don’t cook for kids often, I’d suggest maybe reducing that to 1/2 tsp, and then the adults can drizzle a little more sriracha on theirs tableside if they desire?
Hi Kimelle. I have never baked with self rising flour. I would guess that you should be able to substitute it, but I don’t know for sure. If you try it, please let me know how they turn out. Thanks! Good luck! 🙂
Olive oil is only stable until about 350 degrees Fahrenheit. That may be why people have had so many problems with the sauce burning and boiling over. I’m going to try the recipe tonight with coconut oil and let you know how it turns out. It looks amazing, so I’m looking forward to it! ^_^
Place the pulp from the avocados in a medium bowl and slightly mash with a fork or a potato masher leaving some large chunks. Add lime juice, salt, pepper, cilantro, red onion, garlic and mix thoroughly.
loving this recipe!!! My husband and kids love it as well. What is even better is my mom was down and she is the best cook I know, she is a true European no recipe needed does it all by taste kinda gal. Well I made his for her and my boys and she was in love with it she asked me for the recipe! That is HUGE! So thank you sooooo much! It is in our regular meal plan! 😉
Should i use granulated sugar or powdered sugar in the recipe . Can the recipe be used for making a doll cake . Ie making the whole batter as a single cake and then layering it . Thanks for the reply in advance 😊
I use the frosting as the recipe is written – with butter and shortening. I know some people like to use all butter. If you do half and half, I leave them out of the fridge for several days. If you use all butter, I suggest refrigerating them and then serving at room temperature.
Hi Dale, I am so sorry about that. There was a point where I found a “copycat” recipe that was allegedly STRAIGHT from Chipotle and it used serrano peppers. But then, Chipotle’s website actually has jalapenos, so I fixed my recipe. Yours looks perfect, you aren’t missing anything at all. Here’s a link to Chipotle’s ingredients list for all items (you can find the guac on this page). If you think it was missing something, for me that usually means it needs more salt. But that might just be me.
Hi, I tried these cupcakes and they came out so moist and delicious, I just used the one cup measure that I bought from Walmart, I didn’t weigh any ingredients and I didn’t use an electric beater either, I just used a whisk and followed the recipes instructions and I was really happy with the result. I’m originally from South Africa as well but I’m in Savannah Georgia now. Great recipe, I’ll be using this one only from now on😊
Homemade enchilada sauce adds authentic flavor that makes this dish truly memorable. Making it is an easy process that starts with dried ancho chiles, which provide medium heat, slightly smoky flavor, and a pleasing mix of fruity and bitter notes. Look for bags of dried ancho chiles on the Latin foods aisle of your supermarket; sometimes, you’ll also find them in the produce section. If you want a spicier sauce, toss a raw (whole) jalapeño or serrano pepper in the blender. Be sure to warm the tortillas according to package instructions; they’ll be more pliable when warm and less likely to tear.
Nothing satisfies like a comforting bowl of soup when you come home feeling tired and chilled, or need a remedy for a cold. Excellent recipe! Thank you… I’ve cooked chicken for many years and wanted to try something new. It was a good choice to pick your recipe. Can’t wait to make them for grandchildren ☺️. I will also try your wing recipe as football season is right around the corner
My cupcakes started to rise, but then just flowed over the edges of the cupcake lines and partially sunk in the middle. I’m at 2700 ft above sea level so I’m not sure if that’s enough of an altitude change to have affected them or not. Any tips?
Hey Lindsay!! I am making these for a baby shower this weekend and was just wondering if the water is supposed to be boiling or not? I see the recipe calls for just water and then while reading the steps it says hot water. I have a recipe for chocolate that uses boiling water so i was just wondering if this is the same concept or not. Thanks 🙂
Sorry they didn’t work out for you, Amanda. Small batch recipes tend to have a different consistency than “regular” recipes since you’re working with such a small amount of ingredients (same with a mug cake). Thanks for your feedback.
Puree canned black beans with scallions, jalapeno, and cumin, then mix with brown rice to make these hearty patties.  Serve them as veggie burgers or as appetizers, accompanied by cilantro-lime yogurt sauce.
Make ahead tip: Prepare cupcakes 1 day in advance. Keep cupcakes covered tightly at room temperature and frost the day of serving. Unfrosted cupcakes can be frozen up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and bring to room temperature before frosting and serving.
I decorated these beauties with raspberries or halved strawberries and basil leaves and the colors were so striking and lovely. They went fast at the baby shower. I suspect people ate more than one because not everyone had a chance to try them (and there were 45 since I tripled the recipe!). I don’t blame you for sneaking multiples ;).
Classic Chicken Cacciatore is usually made with pieces from a whole chicken but this shortcut version features only the thighs. Canned tomatoes and porcini mushrooms add rich flavor in just a few minutes.

Most avocados you’ll find at the store will be under ripe or over and neither are good for this guacamole recipe. You’ll know when an avocado is ripe when it gives just slightly when squeezed. If unripe, don’t store them in the fridge. You want to keep them at room temperature until ripe. If you know friends are coming over on Sunday, buy your avocados a few days before. If you need to speed up the ripening process, throw them into a paper bag with a banana and leave for a day or two.
I follow your avocado board on Pinterest and didn’t even know it was you! I love it! Just had half an avocado, mashed, on a sprouted wheat English muffin with salt, pepper and lemon juice! My fav breakfast! Your guac looks yummy. Maybe the other half for dinner!
