Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook lasagna noodles in boiling water for 8 to 10 minutes. Drain noodles, and rinse with cold water. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese with egg, remaining parsley, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
Hi Erin! I use a spoon to scoop the flour into the measuring cup and then I use a knife (straight-edged) to level the flour across the measuring cup. Thanks for your interest in my recipe. Happy Holidays!
This was so good! I had to make a few changes. I only had about half the amount of fresh mushrooms, so I drained a can of mushrooms (reserved the juice) and tossed them in. I also didn’t have chicken stock, so I used beef, with the juice from the mushrooms. I also like a creamed gravy, so towards the end, I stirred some milk in and cooked until it thickened up.
I’m reposting this Magic Cake here on Jo Cooks today because to this day it’s the most popular recipes here and it’s the one recipe that I usually get the most questions on. Plus I’ve also made a video for you guys to see just how easy it is to make, simply scroll down to see it.
Thank you for the wonderful recipe. By far the best pork chops I ever prepared. I actually starting off my softening them with a meat tenderizer, which did wonders for absorbing the dry rub (also cut down on the baking time).

Meanwhile, in a large pot over medium-high heat, warm 1 teaspoon olive oil. Cook ground beef, breaking up with a wooden spoon, then add garlic and oregano and stir for 1 minute. Season with salt and pepper, then add marinara and stir until warmed through. Combine ricotta, half of the Parmesan, and parsley in a large mixing bowl and set aside.
My guess is your poor results were due to using margarine rather than butter as called for in the recipe. That would explain the oily texture. Try it again with butter and I’m sure you’ll have a better cake!
Citrus trees grow abundantly in California, and I’m always looking for new recipes which use the fruit from the orange and lemon trees in my yard. This is one of my favorites! My mother passed this recipe down to me. —Richard Killeaney, Spring Valley, California
While the cake is baking, make the sauce. Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium low heat. Stir in the sugar, lemon juice, and salt and cook until it just simmers (bubbles around the edges). Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla.
I have made twice this month & it’s a huge hit! This is a fail proof cake & everyone will love it! The PAM cake spray worked nicely too (tip: spray pan outside so overspray does not get on everyhing) Thanks for sharing!
Transform cream of mushroom soup into a delicious simmering sauce by tossing in some chopped onion and sliced fresh mushrooms. Add to seasoned and sauteed pork chops and have a rich and creamy meal.
I admit it. I was skeptical. It seemed too simple and my lasagna is usually froofy. But wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. This IS the best lasagna ever! It’s deliciousness is in its simplicity. Just perfect. Thanks.
Then lay 1/2 pound of mozzarella cheese slices on top of the cottage cheese mixture. This particular brand of cheese was cut very thin, so I had to double up the slices to make 1/2 pound. Don’t let this throw you off—some brands are cut thicker, and would only require a single layer of slices. NOTE: I prefer sliced mozzarella, but you can certainly use grated mozzarella if necessary.
C hocolate-glazed hazelnut mousse cake, frozen passion fruit meringue cake, spiced pumpkin cheesecake with caramel-bourbon sauce. We can think of few words in the English language more enticing than these? From summery layer cakes filled with berries and Mascarpone to rich, decadent confections for the holiday table, cakes commemorate nearly all of life’s special occasions and holidays; birthdays, christenings, showers, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day. But they’re just as welcome any day of the calendar; a quick Bundt or sheet cake is guaranteed to get your family excited for dessert.
Hello Rachel! Wondering if you have the metric measurements for this recipe? I apologize if I missed it somewhere. Btw, I made the chocolate cake and have rave reviews! It’s now my “go to” recipe😊 Tjank you!
Hi Beth, it just needs to get to 165 degrees. You cover it for the first 25 minutes so I think that helps it get it hot, fast. And then remove the foil to promote browning. But yes, if your oven is running at the right temperature (375 degrees if you set it at that temp) it will be hot and bubbly by then. I’ve never had an issue. Just make sure it hits 165 degrees!
The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or “water of life”. It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It’s considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.
I was reading some of the comments and couldn’t read them all so if this question was asked before Please forgive me. You said your not fond of almond flavoring and I’m not either so can I take out the almond and use vanilla extract or vanilla bean? Thank you for your time! Karen
Delicious!! Was nervous after reading some people found it soupy and that it took longer to bake, but I followed the directions exactly and it wasn’t soupy at all and was ready in the 25 min of baking time. I will definitely make again!
Oh I can hardly wait to try this. I’m going to add some Lemoncello to the butter sauce and I will add the butter flavoring. I have a rum cake recipe similar to this that is to die for so this is right up my caloric intake. LOL.
These pork chops are cut doubly thick so it’s easy to give them a good char on the grill while keeping them super-juicy. They’re also perfectly seasoned all the way through after a two-day soak in a brine packed with aromatics like juniper and onion.
Hi and thanks for sharing! I’ve tried so many variations of pork chop recipes, most were pretty time consuming and complex. The combination of the onion powder and paprika gave the chops the perfect flavor. So simple, but so unique! I’ve been looking for a rub combo that doesn’t involve brown sugar or any sweet ingredients, and this was perfect. Only change was that I used 1 tsp. of salt instead of two. Thanks again, 5 stars from me!
Great tip, really added good flavor. I added 1/4 cup (looked right) of  Kraft regular Parmesan cheese and maybe 1 Tbsp of Italian seasoning to mine and it was great. My wife thought it was fantastic.
